Michael L. Resnick was born in 1945 in Monticello, New York. In 1962, he graduated from the New York Military Academy where he attained the rank of Platoon Sergeant. Mr. Resnick received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Windham College in 1967 and his Juris Doctorate from the New England School of Law in 1970. While in college he was on the Dean’s list, and in law school he was the recipient of the American Jurisprudence Awards for Pleading & Practice and Federal Jurisdiction.
Mr. Resnick was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1973. He is one of the original four partners to form Syprett, Meshad, Resnick & Lieb, the current firm’s predecessor. He has over forty (40) years experience practicing marital and family law. He practices family law in high profile marital dissolution and post-dissolution cases involving substantial marital assets, complex property division issues, custody, alimony, child support, visitation, and modification of marital settlement agreements. Mr. Resnick has an “AV” rating by Martindale Hubbell and since 2007, he has been recognized by his peers as a Florida Super Lawyers. The nationwide survey features lawyers from more than seventy (70) practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve has also recognized Mr. Resnick as a Patriotic Employer for contributing to National Security and Protecting Liberty and Freedom by Supporting employee participation in America’s National Guard and Reserve Force.
He has been a guest lecturer for the Florida Bar (Continuing Legal Education), Guardian Ad Litem Program and Hampton Seminars. He presently serves as the President of the Law Firm of Syprett, Meshad, Resnick, Lieb, Dumbaugh, Jones, Krotec & Westheimer, P.A. In 2010, Mr. Resnick was appointed to serve a three year term on the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee, December 1, 2010 to November 30, 2013 and is now the Vice Chairman of that Committee.
Mr. Resnick is a member of The Florida Bar, the Sarasota County Bar Association, American Bar Association, Delta Theta Phi Legal Fraternity, and the Academy Of Florida Trial Lawyers. He is admitted to practice law in the State of Florida, the United States District Court of Florida and the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Resnick has also been involved for over twenty (20) years with United Cerebral Palsy. He has appeared on the Annette Sherman Television Show, FYI on SNN and WWSB TV Channel 40. He serves as a Guardian Ad Litem and is a foster pet parent.
