Ken Poole devotes his practice to the areas of family and criminal law. He assists clients in a wide variety of marital and domestic related issues including: divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, paternity, domestic violence injunctions, post-judgment enforcement and modification issues. His practice also handles the criminal defense cases for the firm, ranging from traffic tickets to felony charges. Mr. Poole is a member of the Florida Bar and is licensed to practice before all Florida State Courts. He is also a member of the Sarasota County Bar Association and the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys.
Mr. Poole was born in Virginia and has been a Florida resident since 1989. He attended the University of Florida where he graduated Cum Laude in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Science with minors in Agricultural Law and Natural Resource Ethics and Policy. Also at the University of Florida, he earned a Master of Science degree in Management in 2003 and his Juris Doctorate in 2005. Mr. Poole earned the 2005 book award for Trial Practice for his efforts and superior performance in trial. While in Law School, Mr. Poole gained valuable experience while working with the City of Gainesville Office of the City Attorney and the Law Offices of Dora Kerner. While participating in the Levin College of Law Criminal Clinic with the Office of the State Attorney for the 8th Judicial Circuit, he worked with the Juvenile Division where he was able to begin honing his courtroom skills as he assisted prosecutors with their cases in and out of court.
After law school, Mr. Poole served as an Assistant State Attorney in the 12th Judicial Circuit. Mr. Poole prosecuted cases in the felony, misdemeanor and juvenile divisions, successfully litigating motions and trials for the State of Florida. Mr. Poole then entered private practice successfully defending a wide range of cases from DUI and traffic offenses to property and drug crimes. His litigation experience as a prosecutor and defense attorney provides a well rounded perspective in the negotiations, motions, trials and hearings he conducts for his clients today.
