John D. Dumbaugh
has practiced real estate and estate law in Florida since 1974.
Born in Butler, Pennsylvania in 1949, Mr. Dumbaugh is a class of
1967 graduate of Riverview High School in Sarasota. He obtained
his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Economics with
a Minor in German from the University of Pittsburgh in 1971 and
his Juris Doctorate
from the University of Florida in 1974. A portion of his undergraduate
study was at the Universität Basel, Switzerland. He is a member
of the Legal Honorary Phi Alpha Delta.
Mr. Dumbaugh is fluent in German as a result
of his additional post graduate study including German language
certification in completion of “German for Law Professionals”
at the Goethe Institute, Bonn Germany in 2000. He has served as
a referral attorney to the Consulate of the Federal Republic of
Germany for Atlanta, Georgia and Miami, Florida.
Mr. Dumbaugh was admitted to the Florida Bar
in 1974. He joined Syprett, Meshad, Resnick & Lieb in 1982 and
became a partner in 1984. He received his Florida Bar Board Certification
in Real Estate Law in 1990 and has maintained certification since.
Among numerous civic activities, Mr. Dumbaugh
has served on the boards of the Sarasota Mental Health Association,
Sarasota United Cerebral Palsy, Siesta Key Actor’s Theatre,
Habitat for Humanity Sarasota, and Key Chorale. He has also been
recognized by the Florida Bar as the recipient of the President’s
Pro Bono Service Award.
Mr. Dumbaugh’s 30 year practice has specialized
in real estate development, international real estate investment,
title insurance, lending practice, estate planning and estate administration.
